I have been appointed rapporteur for the European regulation on the electrification of corporate vehicles and socialist shadow rapporteur for the automotive omnibus fostering the production of small electric cars
In the upcoming negotiations my goal is simple: to enable all workers in Europe to have access to the European electric car!
To do this, we need to:
- Electrify corporate fleets, representing 60% of vehicle registrations;
- Massively develop social leasing in Europe;
- Reorient fossil fuel subsidies towards ‘Made in the EU’ electric vehicles;
- Strengthen the supply of electric vehicles on the second-hand market;
- Incentivise the production of smaller cars to lower prices and ease urban traffic.
Facing the unfair Chinese competition, the losing strategy of carmakers to bet everything on the SUV and the hesitations of the European Union, it is now urgent to support virtuous carmakers and consumers, while keeping the European Green Deal on track !
